Three years ago tomorrow I launched this blog.
That first post is still my favorite of all that I’ve ever written. It feels just as true to me now as when I wrote it – more than 300 posts later.
In my first post I talked about how different my life was then versus five years before. Even in these three years, so much has changed for me:
- Canning is now a favorite past time. Before this blog I’d never even tried it – and was even a little afraid of the process.
- I proudly count myself back in the ranks of readers.
- My disaster instincts are getting better and better thanks to my CERT training.
My work situation is also dramatically different from when I started in this space – expect a post on that coming soon.
I think our brains are hard-wired to sense change more than sameness. Many of the most important parts of my life remain wonderfully constant: DH2U and I have been together for 4 1/2 years; I have a wonderful group of friends and family who I know I can both laugh and cry with; and despite some little annoying things, my health is giving me the ability to pursue my search for meaning in life.
This blog has become a vital part of my sanity. Can you believe that I haven’t missed a post in three years?!?!?! I am no closer to answering the “Now What?” question, but now I am starting to wonder if there is a definitive answer… or if I’d really want to know it if there is! If someone where to hand me life’s answer key, would I look?
As cliched as it is, the journey is fantastic. Okay, not every day. like sobbing in my car at work, but on the whole it definitely beats the alternative!
What changes have you noticed in your life over the last few years? or Would you want to know life’s secrets in advance?
