Priorities

When I started this blog, 545 posts ago (holy cow!), I was seeking clarity. Trust me, I haven’t had an epiphany that solved the mysteries of the universe or anything. If/when I do, I’ll be sure to share. One thing, however, is becoming more and more clear – there isn’t enough time in the day to do all the options that are before me.

Priorities

Don’t worry, faithful readers, I’m not ending this haven that has kept me grounded for so long. I am, however, planning to cut back to once a week. Moving forward, each Monday there will be fresh nuggets of Tammy wisdom/cleverness/cat pictures. If something else comes up that I want to share right away, that Thursday slot is still available for use. I might even go crazy and publish on a different day! Okay, who am I kidding? It will be on Thursdays.

And why am I taking the step? I’m learning I don’t need to keep up with all my little goals (reading a gagillion books a year, walking more than 15,000 steps a day, making fresh cheese and yogurt every week, blogging twice a week like clockwork) when they are slowing me down in another area that means more to me right now. I want to focus more of my writing energy on my fiction. I’m in the middle of a very involved speculative fiction/sci fi piece that deserves more attention. Speaking of which, if anyone happens to know an epidemiologist or an archeologist who has done a recent dig or an active member of the Mormon faith, or all three rolled into one, who wouldn’t mind answering a few questions, that would be really cool. Strangely enough, none of that specificity gave away any of the important plot details!

If I find that I’m not dedicating the newly acquired free time to my fiction and am simply watching Hardy Boys reruns, then I will return to my old publishing schedule.

Thank you everyone who has followed me through the years. I hope the reduced schedule leaves you wanting more.
